Christmas in Mortain
December 2017

Trip advisor review 5*

We stayed here over Christmas and had a lovely relaxing week in a well equipped cottage. Everything we needed to cook a Christmas dinner was available in the cottage and the local supermarket (Carrefour) had all the trimmings to make Christmas day special. The cottage is situated on the top of a hill and 5 minutes drive from Mortain which contains local shops, Bar Tabacs and restaurants. The cottage is also situated on the edge of the countryside and it was lovely to wake up to the noise of farmyard animals. Outside the cottage there are some lovely walks which contain WW2 history, making them even more special. We both had a really lovely Christmas in this little cottage and the owners had put a lot of effort into making our stay wonderful.

We were very comfortable here for a fortnight. Although late in the season the Normandy countryside didn't disappoint! we managed to get onto out bikes every day with only one wet day being the exception. We have visited this part of Normandy for many years and never tire of it. the cottage proved to be just the ticket! Home from home and hopefully we will return next year. Many thanks.

Another great holiday in this extremely comfortable gite. Explored the area around the Petite Chapelle, the view point and the very touching American Memorial. Enjoyed market day at St Hillaire - good bargains. nice friendly people. a good town plus good restaurants and a small hotel.

Set on the edge of town with the peace and quiet of the countryside but with the amenities of the town within walking distance, a perfect introduction to France for those who haven't ventured there before. Enjoyed hearing the birds singing whilst sitting out on the patio and easy drives to many things that Normandy has to offer including cider producers, markets, historic buildings and churches. The local people are very friendly and tourist information staff all spoke good english. Enjoyed Domfront, Mont St Michel and the market at St Hilaire.

Quiet and peaceful

Perfect location, quiet peaceful countryside but on the edge of town for provisions. Local shops Carrefour, Aldi, boulangeries, tourist information and a pizza restaurant. St Hilaire market, Domfont medieval quarter and 1920's church are a must see as is Mont St Michel. Lots of walks in the area, including the Cascades and the Petite Chappelle. equally enjoyed just sitting on the patio.
